DIY COMPOST KIT 2

PROJECT NAME : BARBEQUE WIRE KIT


Target Group : Household workers

Description of Project : This compost kit is made up of used barbeque wire meshthat are joined up together to form a compost kit and also recycled cardboard as the inner layer to hold on the compost placed in it. The aim of this project is to practice zero waste in the housing areas.
Materials that can be used to compost In the home :
1.Leftover food from barbeque activity.
2.Garden wastes.
3.Food wrappers or boxes(recyclable)
4.Fruits skins or peels
 
Procedure:
1.Wire mesh from the barbeque and used containers are washed.
2.The wire mesh is then folded according to the size of the container which is
45cm x 22cm.
3.The sides of the wire mesh is tied up using the wire tie.
4.Then a piece of cardboard is measured and folded to be fit inside the wire mesh.
5.The container acts as the base, the wire mesh as the outer layer and the cardboard is to prevent the substances place in it to fall out through the hole in the wire mesh.
6.Next, place soil as the lowest layer.
7.Collect all the left overs from the barbeque and place on top of the soil.
8.Lastly, cover the leftovers with leaves or shredded paper cups and plates.
9.The compost will be left for 1 month until it is ready to be used.
Follow the steps below to make your DIY Kit.

Wash and then fold or bend the wire mesh into shape of the container for the base.
 
 
Secure  with wire tie at the corners.
 
 
Fold cardboards and fix into the wire mesh box.
 
 
The wire mesh kit is ready to use!!!
